World Chess Championship Bibliography
|
Games from World Chess Championship events are featured throughout
chess literature. This page lists some key references from the
literature. It is far from being exhaustive and is drawn from our
meager collection of volumes at hand. Positions which are marked with
a
on our other pages are linked to the corresponding reference on this
page.

Chess Informant
Best 10 games each issue (#1-71)
In each issue of
Chess Informant,
10 games from the previous issue are spotlighted as 'best games'. Of
course, many of these games have been played in World Chess
Championship competitions.
Best game of each issue (#1-68)
From the 'best games', these were judged the single 'best game' from
the previous issue.
Best 10 games of first 30 years (#1-64); Judges' and Readers' choices
In 1996, Chess Informant ran a competition to determine the best games
from its first 30 years of publication. These games were drawn from
the best game of each issue and covered issues 1 through 64. These
games were selected by the Judges, by the Readers, or by both.
Best 500 games from issues 1-71.
To mark the release of the Chess Informant Reader software, the
Chess Informant editors compiled a selection of 500 best games
from issues 1 through 71. One game was chosen from each opening
classification (A00-E99) and included in the selection. More than 80
games were from World Chess Championship competitions.
Miscellaneous
ZBSTCHES
Some time ago, we compiled a collection of 64 of the best games ever
played. Here's the
complete collection .
The last game in the collection was played in 1987, so there are a few
games that could be replaced by others played since then. In any case,
it's a reasonable overview of the best chess games ever played.
Andy Soltis "The Best Ever" Chess Life 1995-02 p.14
"A highly personal list of the 20 games worth remembering from the
last half of this century." Here's the
complete collection .
