- [z04] At the 31st USSR ch. Leningrad 1963, Polugaevsky came =6th, Suetin =8th and Korchnoi 10th. Suetin and Korchnoi were allowed into the 1964 Moscow zonal, but Polugaevsky was left back. At the zonal, Korchnoi came 5th and Geller 7th, both failing to qualify for the interzonal.
- [z05] Fischer won the Dec. 1962/3 ch., but declined to play at Amsterdam.
- [z06] Yanofsky won the 1963 ch., but was replaced by 2nd place Vranesic.
